Please click on your procedure and a list of Post-Operative instructions will display to help guide you through your recovery.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-chevron su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>TEMPORARY Crowns &amp; Bridges<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<ul class=\"suli\">\n<li>\u2022 Will wear temporary restorations until your permanent restoration is made.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Normal for the gum around the tooth to be tender for a day or two. If the tenderness persists any longer than two days, please call the office immediately so we can check the temporary restoration and make any needed corrections.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 CALL if the temporary restoration comes loose or breaks. If the temporary restoration is off for even a short time, the tooth can shift position and cause the final restoration to not fit well.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Avoid eating with the temporary restoration as much as possible.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Carefully clean around the restoration with a toothbrush. DO NOT floss around the temporary restoration.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Avoid sticky foods and chewing gum.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Slight discomfort, sensitivity and tenderness are possible after a tooth has had dental treatment, but call if it lasts more than a day or two.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-chevron su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>AFTER Crown &amp; Bridge Delivery<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<ul class=\"suli\">\n<li>\u2022 DO NOT CHEW hard foods on the restorations for 24 hours from the time they were cemented. The cement must mature for about 24 hours to have optimum strength.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Mild sensitivity to hot or cold is common. It should disappear gradually over a few weeks.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 DO NOT CHEW ice or other hard objects. AVOID chewing very sticky foods such as &#8220;hard tack&#8221; candies because they can damage or loosen the restoration.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Brush &amp; Floss daily as instructed.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 If your bite seems &#8220;wrong&#8221; call for an adjustment appointment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-chevron su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>DELIVERY of DENTURES \/ PARTIALS<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<ul class=\"suli\">\n<li>\u2022 It is normal to experience some discomfort, sore spots and speech problems while getting used to your new dentures. Your dentures may need a few adjustments until you are comfortable. To help with speech, read aloud for a few minutes every day. Your mouth will adjust, and your speech will improve.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Your bite may need to be adjusted as your dentures settle.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 It is important to clean your denture with a denture brush and a mild toothpaste. Soaking your denture once a week is denture cleaner (eg; Polident) will keep them clean.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 For a partial dentures with metal clasps special care should be taken while inserting and removing them. Keep your partials and remaining natural teeth absolutely clean to prevent gum disease and tooth decay.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 You should return to have your dentures and mouth checked at least once a year.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 With proper care we expect you to have years of satisfied use of your dentures. However overtime, there are changes in your jawbone and gums. When this occurs, your dentures\/partials will feel loose and may require relining. Wearing ill-fitting dentures\/partials for too long without refitting can cause severe bone loss and very serious oral disease. Please call our office if these symptoms occur.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-chevron su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Extractions<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<ul class=\"suli\">\n<li>\u2022 Bite firmly on fauze for 20 minutes&#8230;Replace when necessary DO NOT chew on gauze.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Apply an ice bag wrapped with a moist towel to the jaw the day of extraction to prevent or reduce swelling..repeat if necessary.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Begin warm salt water rinses 3 days after surgery&#8230;four times a day for one week (1\/2 teaspoon salt to 8 ounces of water).<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Keep your head elevated on 2 or 3 pillows to prevent swelling and bleeding.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Drink lots of liquids&#8230;Eat anything you can swallow&#8230;soft foods for the first day.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 May have to a slight earache or sore throat.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Bruise may develop over the side of face and neck.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Take medication as indicated&#8230;Multiple vitamins will help healing.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Keep your lips moist with ointment&#8230;corners of mouth are stretched and may dry out.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Plan to eat soft foods, such as soups, milk shakes, fruit juice and yogurt for 2\u20143 days<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 DO NOT\n<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Smoke for 24 hours.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Use Straw to drink for 24 hours.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Use mouthwash for at least 3 days after surgery.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Spit \u2014 saliva and a little bleeding can appear to be a lot of bleeding.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Drink alcohol or carbonated beverages.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Eat or drink hot foods and beverages after surgery.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Bite your lips, cheeks or scrape your gums&#8230;children should be watched carefully because it will damage soft tissues and result in pain.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Brush your teeth the day of surgery&#8230;resume normal home care the next day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"h2Standard\">CONTACT THE OFFICE IMMEDIATELY:<\/h2>\n<p>If pain worsens or becomes sever after 2\u20143 days<br \/>\nIf elevated temperature continues after 48 hours<br \/>\nIf you need any further assistance or have any questions&#8230;PLEASE CALL OUR OFFICE<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-chevron su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>(ENDO) Root Canal Treatment<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<ul class=\"suli\">\n<li>\u2022 Sensitivity should subside after a few days<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Take prescribed medication as directed<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 You have a temporary filling, so do not bite hard for one hour after your appointment and chew carefully on the opposite side of your mouth<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Sensitivity to cold and heat, as well as any soreness should go away in a few days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-chevron su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>AFTER Implant<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\nThe outcome of this treatment depends largely on the part you play in the following instructions. At Cosmetic Dental Center we stand behind our work. However, we need your help. We cannot control the conditions in which the implants are subject to when outside of our office. Therefore, there are a few requirements that must be followed.<\/p>\n<p>The next 3\u20146 months following the placement of the implant is the most critical phase of the healing process, when the implant is becoming stabilized. It is important that this take place without the implants being subjected to any strain. You should therefore, be extremely careful to maintain a suitable nutritious diet at all times during the healing period. Foods that contain tomatoes, onions, pepper, or spices may be irritating and should be avoided. Do not bite down or chew on the implant site as it could cause the bone not to integrate to the implant. Below are some examples of acceptable foods:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"suli\">\n<li>\u2022 Cooked cereals such as oatmeal, cream of wheat.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Well mashed fruits, applesauce, yogurt.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Broth, bouillon, soups and stews.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Ground beef, soft broiled.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Baked or broiled fish.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Broiled or stewed chicken (finely chopped).<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Potatoes (baked, broiled or whipped).<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Asparagus, peas, carrots, lima beans, string beans.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Noodles, macaroni and cheese.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Cottage cheese, cream cheese, canned, cooked or stewed fruits.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Fresh vegetable juices and cooked vegetables.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Milkshakes, ice cream, puddings, jello and custards.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 A blender may be helpful in processing foods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>It is also very important that you maintain good oral hygiene<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"suli\">\n<li>\u2022 Brush after every meal and before bedtime.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Floss at least once a day.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Follow any special instructions given to you by our office.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Careful use of a waterpik may help to maintain hygiene.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Do not rinse or spit for the first 24 hours after surgery.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Do not smoke for at least 24 hours.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 No smoking is preferred due to a greater chance for implant success.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Use a warm salt water rinse three to four times a day for the first week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>A professional dental cleaning is recommended every three months until otherwise notified by the doctor.<\/strong><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-chevron su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Silver Fillings &amp; Tooth Colored Fillings<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<ul class=\"suli\">\n<li>\u2022 Expect sensitivity for the first couple of weeks. REmember, placing a filling in any tooth is actual tooth surgery.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Cold sensitivity may persist for several days.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Do not eat or drink (hot liquids) while numb to avoid injury to the numb tissues.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 A new filling may feel grainy at first.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 A new filling may feel different due to the bumps and grooves from the anatomy of the tooth.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Do not chew hard food on a new filling for 24 hours.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Do not floss for at least 8 hours on a new silver filling.<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 You may experience galvanic shock with a metal filling for a day or two.
