Usually because of the length of time between cleanings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Root Planing &amp; Scaling: <\/strong>cleans between the gums and the teeth down to the roots. This is done when a deeper cleaning is required because of either the length of time since the previous cleaning or the gums have either started to pull away from the teeth or the roots of the teeth have tartar on them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arestin:\u00a0<\/strong>is an antibiotic that is inserted into gaps around your teeth to kill bacteria that causes periodontal infection, inflammation and bleeding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Perio Maintenance:\u00a0<\/strong>is an advanced dental cleaning procedure that specifically targets plaque, bacteria and tartar buildup along the surfaces of the teeth to ensure healthy gums and reduce bone loss.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"h2Standard\">Restorations<\/h2>\n<p>Tooth restorations are the various ways your dentist can replace of restore missing teeth or parts of the tooth structure. Tooth structure can be missing due to decay, deterioration of a previously placed restoration or fracture of a tooth. Examples of restorations include the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sealants:<\/strong>\u00a0act as a barrier, protecting the tiny grooves in back teeth from decay. Sealants will be checked at your regular dental visit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fillings:\u00a0<\/strong>are the most common type of dental restoration. Teeth are filled with gold, silver amalgam or tooth-colored plastic and glass materials call composite resin fillings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crowns:\u00a0<\/strong>are a tooth-shaped &#8220;cap&#8221; that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength or appearance to replace a tooth, hold a bridge or cover a dental implant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bridges:\u00a0<\/strong>are replacement teeth that are designed to &#8220;bridge&#8221; the gap created by one or more missing teeth. Bridges can be anchored on either side by crowns and cemented permanently into place.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"h2Standard\">Prosthetics<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Dentures\/Partial Dentures:\u00a0<\/strong>are a removable replacement for missing teeth. They are made of acrylic resin sometimes combined with metal attachments. Complete dentures replace all the teeth; partial dentures are considered when some natural teeth remain and are retained by metal clasps attached to the natural teeth.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"h2Standard\">Extractions<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Extraction:\u00a0<\/strong>is the removal of a tooth when other options to save the tooth have been eliminated.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"h2Standard\">Root Canal<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Root Canal:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>is a treatment that attempts to save a decayed or infected tooth. The nerve and pulp of the tooth are removed and the area is sealed to prevent an abscess (infection).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 class=\"h2Standard\">Implants<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Implants:<\/strong>\u00a0are replacement tooth roots. Implants are actually a small post made of metal that are placed into the bone socket where teeth are missing.
